Education of Haram and Halal.
In this chapter, we will distinguish between what is haram and what is halal. This is a subject whose knowledge should be the first priority of every Muslim.
Knowledge of permissible and forbidden is compulsory upon believers.
God says: Do not argue about what is lawful and what is forbidden without knowledge. That is, it is necessary for every believer to have a basic knowledge of what is lawful and what is forbidden. According to modern research, eating pure, i.e., halal food is a guarantee of good health. While eating impure, i.e., haram food is harmful to health. That is why God strictly commands us to eat only halal and pure things.
Q-16:116And do not lie with your tongues (without knowledge), saying, "This is permissible and that is forbidden," and that you do not invent a lie against Allah.
Q-05:87-88O you who believe! Do not forbid the good things which Allah has made permissible for you, and do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors. (87) And eat of what Allah has provided for you, permissible and pure, and fear Allah in Whom you believe. (88)
God says: The abundance of impure things may place you in doubt, for the pure and the impure are not equal in balance. Therefore, be righteous.
Example: When God forbade the Jews from hunting on Saturday, then on Saturdays, a lot of fish would be seen in the water. However, there were very few fish on the other six days after Saturday. This was a test from God for the Jews. Some Jews failed and incurred God's displeasure.
Q-05:100Say: The impure and the pure are not equal, even if the excess of the impure causes you to doubt. O people of understanding! Fear Allah that you may be successful.
Q-07:163Ask them about the town that lay by the sea! when its people violated the Sabbath. On their Sabbath, fish would come to them openly on the surface, but on other days they would not appear. In this way, we tested them for their defiance.
Responsibility for education.
Parents bear the primary responsibility for providing religious education, while scholars carry the secondary responsibility. Parents often fail to fulfill this duty because they themselves lack the requisite knowledge. Consequently, they seek the help of scholars in madrasas to teach the Quran to their children.
In my view, merely reciting the Qur’an does not earn good deeds. The real reward comes after a person understands what the Qur’an actually says, and then lives that knowledge in their personal life. That lived practice of Qur’anic guidance is what produces virtues. Now just reflect: How many ordinary people in non-Arabic speaking countries like India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh read the Quran with understanding?
God says of scholars (ulama), who are tasked with guiding people, that they violated God's revealed words for a small worldly price, concealed His Book, and failed to clarify the truth. They were required to clarify God's guidance to people, not conceal it.
Q-02:174Indeed, those who conceal what Allah has revealed in the Book and trade it for a small worldly gain, they are filling their bellies with nothing but fire. Allah will neither speak to them on the Day of Resurrection nor purify them, and for them it is a painful punishment.
Q-02:159Indeed, those who conceal the clear proofs and guidance which We have sent down, after We have made them clear in the Book for the people, it is they whom Allah curses, and upon whom also the cursers curse.
Allah the Almighty rebukes those who take pride in their evil deeds and seek commendation for actions they have not genuinely undertaken. Such individuals deceive themselves into believing they are secure from punishment, yet in reality, a severe and painful torment awaits them. This verse admonishes humanity that no deception can succeed before Allah, and every human shall be called to account for its actions.
Q-03:188Those who rejoice in what they have done and desire praise for what they have not done. They should never think that they will escape punishment. And for them it is a painful punishment.
In this chapter, we will identify, in the light of the Quran, those matters or things that Allah has declared forbidden or prohibited. These are the commandments of Allah, whose ignorance can lead even a believer into shirk and kufr.
We will present this chapter from seven perspectives.
1. Individual forbidden (Haram) Actions.
These are the Haram actions in which the personality of a person supports the commission of the Haram action.
2. Socially forbidden actions.
These are those forbidden actions that have an impact on society. Or the entire society becomes supportive of these actions.
3. Family forbidden acts.
These are forbidden acts whose consequences affect the domestic and family structure. And sometimes, the entire family can be brought to the brink of destruction.
4. Forbidden food items.
Food items that God has declared forbidden for His servants.
5. Alcohol and intoxicants are forbidden.
Alcohol or intoxicants that harm the intellect are forbidden by God. The word al-Khamr is used in the Quran. Its meaning is: alcohol or intoxicants that overpower the intellect.
6. Despairing of God's mercy is a forbidden.
Many times, sinners or disbelievers among the people of Islam recognize the truth. But they are so disappointed in the Lord because of their actions that they hesitate to accept the truth.
7. Major Sin.
Some actions that become part of human nature, and destroy society and family life. Such actions are considered by God as major sins. Read More……...
